Venue & Accommodations

The two day meditation retreat will be held at Wellspring Retreat Center in Germantown, Maryland, with simple and comfortable accommodation designed to support a peaceful meditation environment. Participants will stay in personal rooms with two beds per room, shared by two people. To ensure comfort, safety, and appropriateness, there are three separate cabin areas designated for male participants, female participants, and high school students.

Contribution & What’s Included

We offer vipassana meditation and mindfulness programs at the Mahamevnawa Buddha Meditation Center of Greater Washington DC, including guided 'Meditate with a Monk' sessions, children's mindfulness classes, day-long silent retreats in Maryland, and weekly online Dhamma talks via Zoom, all designed to promote peace, unity, and mental well-being for people of all backgrounds.

This is a fee-based program. The total cost is approximately $225, which covers:

  • Venue and overnight stay
  • All meals and refreshments
  • Meditation materials and session setup
  • Event logistics and organizational expenses

This meditation retreat is not-for-profit—your contribution supports only the actual costs of running the events, ensuring it remains accessible and meaningful.

8:30 am – 9:00 am: Check In
9:00 am – 9:15 am: Short Introduction to the Program
9:15 am – 10:00 am:  Guided Meditation On Breathing
10:00 am – 10:15 am: Discussion on the experience of Meditation on Breathing
10:15 am – 10:30 am: Silent Short Break
10:30 am – 11:00 am Teachings on How to practice mindfulness in daily life.
11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Brunch
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm: Silent free time (Monks available for one-on-one sessions)
1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Learning how to identify defilements that lead to suffering in a community circle.
2:00 pm – 3:15 pm: Walking Meditation.
3:15 pm – 3:30 pm Tea Break
3:30 pm – 5:00 pm Free Time
5:00 pm – 6:30 pm Guided & Silent Meditation on Loving-kindness.
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Mindful dining and chanting Loving-kindness.
7:30 pm – 8:30 pm: Practical Session on Mindful communication, listening & understanding thought patterns. (Community Circle)
8:30 pm – 9:15 pm: Silent Meditation
9:15 pm: Bedtime
9:15 pm – 10:00 pm: Monks lead mindful Buddhist Chantings (Open to all)

Day 2

5:30 am – 6:30 am: Wake up & Washing
 6:30 am – 7:30 am: Mindful Eating & chanting Loving-kindness
 7:30 am – 8:30 am: Guided meditation on the impermanence of the Six sense faculties. (Special technique. to overcome mental instability)
 8:30 am – 9:30 am: Walking Meditation
 9:30 am – 10:30 am:  Guided Meditation On Loving-kindness Meditation
10:30 am – 11:15 am: Free Time 
11:15 am – 12:15 pm: Brunch
12:15 pm – 1:00 pm Mindful Free Time 
1:00 pm – 2:30 pm: Mindful Walking Meditation
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm: Silent Sitting Meditation
3:30 pm – 4:00 pm: Sharing experiences and expressing gratitude.
